Moose Peterson's MP-1 Photopack - 05-14-2009, 03:03 PM

Many of you may have seen this on Moose's site or McNally's blog. If I fly from Killeen I am on a small puddle jumper to DFW, Houston or Atlanta. Small aircraft = small overhead. They swear this fits with the caveat that it isn't full of padding. At $365 it isn't cheap. Does anyone have any experience with this?

it does pretty much what it promised. i carried it for awhile and still do sometimes. i can get a d2x, 200-400, 70-200, 28-70, 10-24, sb800, and a few things in it. i can use it as a backpack for a little while, but not on long distances (i am not as young as i used to be) as it is not designed for comfort but for utility.

it will not fit under your seat with your feet. i have not been on really small planes with it.

their measurments are pretty correct, so measure the overheads next time you fly.

if you come to dallas sometime you can see mine, i live by mckinney

From what I hear (not ever having owned a Moose bag) it holds a lot of gear which can make it very heavy and from what I've heard the support system on the bag makes it hard on the back (this is what I've "heard").

That said, you might want to take a look at the Kiboko from Gura Gear. It's a new bag, extremely lightweight with a solid support structure. I have one and it's been great.

They don't say anything about the handles or use as a backpack on the site. I "assumed" it had straps based on comments, but they don't sell it with that.

Thanks for the comments.
