Does anyone have any real negative feelings/experiences with this lens? I need faster than 2.8 and would like "normal" FOV for my 50d. Specifically how this lens performs wide open?

Oops, didn't see the photos got removed. I'll get some new ones up ASAP.

I LOVE this lens on my 5D. It's my most used wide. It's sharp right at 2.8 when you can afford the light, not too shabby at f/2-2.2-2.5.

Negatives? Focus isn't as fast or silent as my USM lenses but that's no big given the price point. If you want something faster and silent the Sigma 30/1.4 may be a better pick, but there are reported QC issues with Sigma all over, and $$ more. On a crop body (I have a 30D), its not my favorite, but I'm not the biggest fan of the 50mm focal length, which is more of a personal matter.

Thank you for updating the shots. I never got great results with my 50 f/1.4 so I am leary of getting another mid level lens from canon. I do like the results that you have posted.

? Is it painfully slow focusing, or just slower?

Thank you again, Dan!

I can post a video in a day or two if you'd like, shoot me a PM to remind me (about to pass out from shooting football. Like... I just tried to put a roll of film into a card reader tired.)
