It's a good lens... just not "great". I wanted to like it more, but it often doesn't look as good as I want it to in the f/1.4 - f/1.8 range. If Canon released a Mk II version of this lens, I'd likely be all over it. As it is, I'm waiting to see what the reviews of the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX end up looking like.

Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi - ISO 400 | 50 mm | 1/100 sec at f / 1.4

Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi - ISO 800 | 50 mm | 1/125 sec at f / 1.6

Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi - ISO 800 | 50 mm | 1/100 sec at f / 2.0

Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi - ISO 1600 | 50 mm | 1/125 sec at f / 2.0

I am having such a hard time tring to decide if I want to grab this lens. Found one used for a good price, but afraid that if I get it used and I have any focus issues, gonna have to pay for repair.

Lots of movement, focused exactly where I wanted it to.

schnee added 6 Minutes and 34 Seconds later...Double Post Merged Below

Canon 5D : @50mm : 1/30th : f1.4 : 1600 ISO : Aperature Priority : 0 Exp Comp: Flash Did Not Fire

Available light, wide open. Noisy, but that's the body, not the lens.
