Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM
This L lens is $400 less than the 70-200mm/f4 and a lot less than the 70-200mm/f2.8.
It is also lighter. No IS, though.
Anyone here who can compare it to the 70-200mm variables? Seems like most people use the zooms near the maxium range.
Tks. | | | |

I covet this lens... I can't compare it with any of the 70-200's, but it's my favorite lens. quick, accurate, silent focus, not ridiculously heavy (but very solid), fast prime, and works well with a 2x extender. What's not to like?

One I took the other day that I kind of like. I haven't had alot of time to play with this lens yet, but I've been pleased with what I've done so far. This shot is straight out of the camera without any processing.

It's killing me that I haven't been able to take more pictures with it yet. That will change starting next weekend since I'll be out of the office more. The few pictures I've taken with it have turned out pretty good.

I, too, love this lens. Sharp, fast, not a beast to lug around and a bargain for an L lens! A winning combo of features in my book. I posted these images elsewhere on the forum, but I think they are also good examples of what can be shot with this lens.

love this lens it is my favorite
200mm
1/500 sec
iso 400
f2.8
I have used caonon's 70-200 f2.8 non IS and IS and nikons 70-200 f2.8 and 80-200 f2.8 and the 200 f2.8 is sharper wide open and has better color and contrast. It is the best 200 f2.8 I have used and the AF is super fast.
