How would this lens do with a group photo where there is not much room to back up to use a 17mm or longer lens?

it distorts (stretches) the edges very noticeably at 10mm.

Agreed, I bought this lens along with my 40D a year ago. Last Christmas, I tried to take a shot of my family in a very tight living room. I could only backup about 5ft. Yes it was a amateur shot...I'm still learning.

Does anyone know how James used this with his Mark III (or is that a mistake in the photo data)? I thought the EF-S lenses only worked with the 1.6x bodies due to the lens construction.

you can modify it by taking off the rubber piece around the rear element.

All images taken at 10mm, its a great lens to have in your bag.Sorry dont know how to individually label exif per image. let me know and I will provide when asked.
