Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L - 07-22-2008, 10:02 PM

Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L USM

Description:

The Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L USM replaces the previous high quality L-series 28-70mm f/2.8 lens, with a lens of even greater caliber. The range has been extended to cover an ultra-wide angle of 24mm, which makes it ideal for digital as well as film shooters, and the optics are even better than before with two Aspherical elements and a totally new UD glass element. It's now sealed and gasketed against dust and moisture, and a new processing unit makes the AF faster than ever.

Performance:
  • Focal Length: 24 - 70 mm

  • Minimum: f/22
  • Camera Mount Type: Canon EF
  • Format Compatibility: 35mm Film / Full-Frame Digital Sensor Canon (APS-C)

  • Minimum Focus Distance: 1.25' (38cm)
  • Magnification: 0.29x

  • Diaphragm Blades: 8

Features:
  • Image Stabilization: No
  • Autofocus: Yes
  • Tripod Collar: No

Specifications:
  • Filter Thread: 77 mm
  • Dimensions (DxL): Approx. 3.3 x 4.8" (8.38 x 12.19cm)

This is the "go to" lens that lives on my primary camera body anytime I pack it away. I've taken twice as many photos with this lens as any other. It's the lens you'd have to pry out from my cold dead hands. It does everything I could ask of it. I used to think it was a heavy lens, but that was before I got a 70-200mm f/2.8L IS. Now the 24-70mm just seems like an average weight lens. You really do get used to it.

Canon EOS 40D - ISO 400 | 24 mm | 1/2000 sec at f / 5.6

Canon EOS 40D - ISO 1600 | 24 mm | 1/125 sec at f / 2.8

Canon EOS 40D - ISO 800 | 70 mm | 1/13 sec at f / 2.8

Canon EOS 40D - ISO 1600 | 70 mm | 1/160 sec at f / 2.8
