Broken Homes with my Leica - 02-06-2010, 12:05 PM

First time I wandered into a not so good area in Port Arthur, Tx for shots. Besides my camera, I came loaded! Abandoned houses and building provide such a rich environment for shots. I hope you all enjoy these.

There are always gems around those places, but you have to be a little careful not to run into some predators...

All nice, but I especially like the second one. The lighting is just superb.

I'll prob be heading that way at some point, I'm from Beaumont. Might want to go out shooting around PA (but I'd never do it alone there). I'll bring some home brew with me..

Let me know, Ed. I will guide you. It is not that bad at all if you stay on the main street with the police department right there! Beaumont has a worse crime rate than Port Arthur!

my husband had to go to port arthur for business last week at the police dept. he does graphics for a lot of police departments cars....he was telling me how they have been REALLY slow to rebuild and in some areas it just looked very desperate. your photos really show me what shape port arthur is in and what he was talking about. nicely done.

Abandoned houses/buildings are always great finds. Good job on all three; I particularly like the tonal qualities of the third one.

Thank you, Cynthia and Chuck for looking and commenting. Cynthia, Port Arthur is really not bad at all and people, for the most part, are very friendly and honest. I have made a very good living here for 20 years. Chuck, I am so glad you had picked #3. That shot has become one of my favorites with the light on the floor...
