Arrow My East Coast Trip - 3 Cities In 5 Days - Lots of Photos! - 04-20-2010, 03:16 PM

From April 8th - April 12th I took a trip to the East Coast in order to sightsee and see one of my favorite bands in concert. The band played in Philadelphia, New York City and Washington DC and since I had never been to the East Coast I figured I'd pack up some clothes and my camera and make the trip. I flew into Philly, then took a train to New York City then took a train to Washington DC then flew home to Houston from there. All in all I had an absolute blast and would do it again in a heartbeat! Here are a few photos from the trip...

Philadelphia, PA

Love Park

Independence Hall

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Washington Square

Independence Hall (Shot in Infrared)

Museum of Art aka "The Rocky Steps" (Shot in Infrared)

City shot from the Museum of Art (Shot in Infrared)

Here is Geno's Steaks in South Philly. I've never had a Cheesesteak before in my life so what better place to have my first than in Philly! I ended up having one at Pat's King of Steaks which is right across the street from Geno's based on what the locals suggested and man was it GOOD!! Wow.

City Hall

Love Park @ Night

New York, NY - Day 1

I booked this room at The Jane Hotel SPECIFICALLY for this photo! I thought it would be hilarious! The rooms are only 50sq ft total and the "bed" took up more that half of that. The door wasn't even a standard 3ft wide. I did have my own fan, a/c unit, small window, small flat screen tv all for $89 a night in the West Village in New York City. No bathroom/shower so I had to use the community one at the end of the hall... CLASSY!! =)

My Presidential Suite

Brooklyn Bridge

Brooklyn Bridge

Brooklyn Bridge

Brooklyn Bridge

View of Downtown

Brooklyn Bridge

Brooklyn Bridge

Grimaldi's Pizzeria in Brooklyn Heights. I was told by some locals to definitely check this place out for some of the best pizza in NYC. When I got there, there was a line formed outside of about 40 people waiting to get in. ! waited for about an hour or so but the pizza was soooo good! Definitely worth the wait.

Hopped on the subway and ventured into Queens in order to see the New York Mets vs. Washington Nationals @ Citi Field

Citi Field. I left the game around the third inning in order to get out and see more sights around town since my stay in NYC was very limited.

Times Square. This place never sleeps!

Times Sqaure

Empire State Building Lobby

View from the 86th floor observation deck of the Empire State Building. You can see the Flatiron Building in the dead center of the image with the Brooklyn Bridge on the far upper left hand side just near the horizon. This is looking towards downtown. The observation deck closes at 2am so I got up there just in time to get some photos and look around before they closed for the day. It was a very long day indeed!

New York, NY - Day 2

Strawberry Fields - Central Park
Memorial to John Lennon inaugurated in 1985 on what would have been Lennon's 45th birthday.

Bethesda Terrace - Central Park

Bethesda Terrace (Shot in Infrared) - Central Park

Boat House - Central Park

I cut the day short as I had a concert to go to that night. I met up with a friend of mine from Houston that was also in town for the same concert and I got a second tour around the city via a limo with him and his group of friends that are originally from the NY/NJ area. As soon as I told my new found east coast friends about my small hotel room they said we had to get a photo of all of us in the room at the end of the night! So after the concert and after closing the bars down here we all are... including our limo driver at 6am the next morning! Crazy Night!!! Good Times!! =)

Washington, DC

United States Capitol

United States Capitol (Shot in Infrared)

Washington Monument

Flag at Washington Monument

The End.

Very nice Abel.
As a life long "yankee" I've been to almost everyplace you photographed except that room. $89 a night is fantastic, even for a closet with a bed.

Great pictures Abel, that hotel room reminds me of every hotel room I have had in Europe. Except they did have private bathrooms.

Great job Abel ! Really like the Skyline shot and the Flag at the end. That room was ridiculous but a community bathroom.. Sounds more like a hostel. Great tour thanks.

Did you run up the steps of the Philly art museum Rocky style? That was my fav part of philly.

Love the fisheye bklyn bridge shots.

That hotel room is crazy! Even for NYC! lol
One of the last hotels we stayed at their was a philip stark boutique hotel up on the upper west side and i thought THOSE rooms were small but nuttin like that.

Looks like a great trip. You sure got lots of good photos! That room looks like it had a mirror on one wall. I expect that made it at least feel like a bigger room...LOL. Man, I'm just trying to imagine living in an 8' x 6'-4" space. I don't think I would of been in there long.

Thanks for sharing your trip!

Awesome set, looks like a lot of fun! I love the fish-eye Brooklyn Bridge shots and the flag shot at the end.
