architecture pricing - 04-22-2010, 02:59 PM

Hi guys I have been asked to take some architectural pictures of a small hospital building. I mostly do people portraits...Seniors..family portraits...etc..

I know the lady that want's me to take the pictures, but she has asked me to give her a quote. I never done this type of photography and really don't know how much to charge.

It's a small hospital, they want pictures of the inside, outside and some of the employees. Can you guys give me ideas on a price range?? Or any advice...

Sounds like an all day job (or at the least a half day). Figure out what your day rate is, but don't forget post processing time. Add any expenses and any usage fees you feel are appropriate. Personally, I could probably shoot this in a half day plus a half day for production. I usually don't charge usage fees to local businesses so I would do this for a bit less than $ 1K and give them a disc of all the useable images.

Typically commercial jobs like this are quoted by a day rate (or half day).
So first you need to figure out what your day rate is.

Then, since I screwed myself on the last gig i did pricing it this way (after no problems with all previous jobs quoted like this) I'm going to be changing my pricing structure so that the day rate includes a certain amount of images processed. Then anything beyond that is $XX.xx per photo.

I'd also quote for the portraits separately from the architecture. Or next thing you know you'll go from shooting 2 of them to 6 of them.

You'll also want to write up some kind of licensing contract for the images.
