A child's view of Beijing (12 images) - 07-12-2010, 10:07 PM

My wife and kids spent three weeks in Beijing on a family visit. Before the trip I gave a P&S digital camera to my 9 year old son and another to my 7 year old daughter and encouraged them to photograph everything they found interesting. The came back with 700 pictures.

I took a quick look at them and selected just a few to share with you. I think they are pretty interesting! Because they have seen me interact with local people in other countries we've visited together, they knew it was ok to photograph people and not just things.

I taught my son to do quick auto adjustments in Photoshop Elements, which he has on his computer, and here they are after some minor color and level adjustments.

I really like the first one!

I like #2 a lot Paco. That is real close to what I would expect to see from you. Maybe a little cropping on top & left. Tell the shooter 'well done'.

I will show your comments to Pablo tomorrow. Just added a few more. I think the bra picture is funny, and I think my son was probably attracted to the "brackground"

Edit: my daughter took some of these, like the two where my son appears... so she deserves credit too, of course!

One and two are very nice. Number four looks like an ad. I just love the lines of phones with your son in the middle. The underwear shot just makes me smile. The bra one was pretty funny too.

Janice, Don, thank you. My child was thrilled when he read the comments from other photographers. Hopefully this will be a boost for him to continue to show an interest for photography!

I believe they have your genes, Paco. They are better than some of mine... #2 stood out with the tight comp and the expression on the old man eating corn... Tri
