Eerie architecture of Texas A&M University - 11-14-2010, 08:12 PM

Scary horse skull carvings and ceramic tile ornamentation on the facade of Animal Industries Building.
Slaughtering of animals for students classes was a daily part of the college curriculum in the 1960's,
according to Internet source.

Spooky cow skull decorated by flowers and a knife in concrete.

Ghostly artwork at cornice of the building.

Cast stone carving of Genetics shield near a pediment.

Human figures with horse and cow heads on pediment of Civil Engineering Building (1932), originally used as a veterinary hospital.

Cast stone carving of a saddle and a longhorn above the entrance.

Patterns of animal heads near the roof.

Bull peeking from a corner of the roof.

Pictures were taken in College Station, Texas. Several pictures were de-saturated.
A telephoto lens was used because most of stone carvings are located very high from the ground.

Those are very interesting. I guess they are kind of a combination of classical art with agricultural heritage. Good find! I bet many people walk past these every day and never notice.
