Sam,

Nice pictures at a good time of year. The glow around the building in the second image is very distracting and annoying. I think it detracts from what would be a nice image.

Thanks so much for the input, Michael.
That glow is difficult to control, but I am working on it.

Thumbs up Good Look - 12-14-2010, 11:22 PM

This is definitely a good look for architecture, and I like these photos very much. HDR can be a tough beast to control, but when mastered, the reults are unique. If you can shoot against a sky with clouds, the sometimes "glow" at the edges may be minimized.

Thanks, Bruce! I'm sure that finally getting right will be worth the effort.
HDR shooting is so addictive.

I like the composition and framing of both your pictures. I clearly see what you are going after. I really like #2. Nice eye! However, I find the HDR in general to be distracting. They just seem overcooked. I am not an HDR "hater", it is just that I find it difficult to use without losing something major. I struggle with it myself. Could you post the orginals, maybe cooked just a touch? I am curious what comparing the pre and post HDR would look like. Thanks for sharing and for being a good sport!

Thanks for your comments, I really appreciate it. Here is the Wylie image without HDR, but touched up with Photoshop.

The sky on #1 is REALLY blue! Good images otherwise though. Love the reflection in the pool on the second one.

Thanks, Chris. I think you're right. The sky there is perhaps too much of a good thing.

I really like the non-hdr version. Really nice capture. May also be a great B&W, not sure.

Thanks for sharing.

That area is beautiful in the evening and at night. My son goes to Booker T. Washington which is the old school on the left in the first photo. Beware of the parking in the area, when they say 1 hour, they really mean 1 hour. Enjoyed your photos!

Thanks so much for the kind comments. My photography remains a work-in-progress but the journey is a lot of fun.

I also love the Arts District. When the City Performance Hall is done next year, it will finally feel complete.

+1

In fact, I think that the intensity of the blue sky in the first shot is distracting.
