Hi Everyone!
Just got back from a business trip to Paris. I got the opportunity to shoot a bit at night as well as a Sunday.

My favorite is # 6, the city street in b/w. Thanks for the taste of Paris. Looking forward to going back ourselves in a few months.

Great Images Paul.
I was there last June and don't remember ever seeing the Arc de Triomphe circle without traffic. Quality work....

Went there early one morning for about two hours. Then went again early evening to catch the sundown. I saw a few people attempt to cross over to the Arc when there was a safe underground walkway. LOL
Again Paul, thanks for sharing your beautiful photography work.

thanks for sharing. excellent work. and the arc with no traffic. tres bien!! i'm heading there (hopefully) in august. it will be my third trip to paris.
also, i believe monmarte refers to an area around the 18th arrondissement, while sacre coeur is the basilica you shot. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basiliq...#339;ur,_Paris

Very nice series, Paul. Thank you for sharing. I have not been back to Paris for over 5 years. The first time my wife and I went there in '95, we were in the same area with "Le Consulat Restaurant." Indeed, we are taking the whole family to Venice and Paris this Spring. Here is a photo of my wife at the same spot where you were over 15 years ago.

Paul,
My favorite is the B&W of the neighborhood street scene.
I like your work. I have seen very little work from Paris that did not have tons of people in the image. I guess being Winter and late at night helped. Did you get any hassle from police or security.
I love European buildings at night. I have a ton from Zürich, and Switzerland back in the film days.

Thanks for the comments!
I was shooting with many different exposures for the night scenes and it is interesting how the sky handled the different amount of light.
I left all my pro glass at home as this was really a business trip and I didn't want to carry my heavy glass.
Lenses used: 18-200 VR (90%) - not the sharpest lens but stopped down it does ok. I wanted to use F11 and smaller to create starbursts on the street lights and to allow pedestrians to ghost (thus not be visible on the image).
35/2 - used on first night of shooting Eiffel Tower when trying to handhold - very tough.
16 Fisheye - for the Louvre bw image - much better on a FF body then my D300 i used - I prob should have brought my D700 instead but wanted to use my 18-200 lens for portability.
While I love my 17-35, 28-70 and other "pro" glass, this shows that even consumer glass can be used to create nice images. Besides having my tripod for stablization, it slows me down and forces me to think about what I am shooting.
Went back to shoot another evening with my Gitzo Traveler tripod with archatech head
Weather 35F with rain all week - I got lucky early on Sunday morning before more clouds came in - also that is when I got the Arch with a break in the traffic.
Shots at the Louvre were about 11:00 - midnight. I had heard that the police frown on tripods around the monuments, but I did not have any problems.
Thanks for looking :)
