Houston from a different angle. What ya Think? - 02-08-2011, 09:05 PM

One perk of my day job is that I have access to some unique vantage points!

So I took a few shots from the highest point in Houston.

It was quite hazy today so the really long shots were out but another day.

I'm still working on the upload settings to get the best result so the sharpness may be a bit off!

I take it you're one of those crazy guys that work on antenna towers

I get queasy just thinking about doing that type of work.... not for me...I'm a feet on the ground kind of guy. I had a job offer back in 2002 to replace the lights in towers and oil rigs out in the gulf and turned it down...they couldn't print enough money for me to take that job.

I don't climb towers,(we pay crazy people to do that) I am a Broadcast Engineer. I build and work on radio stations.
This if from the roof top of the Chase building, you can walk around and it has a guardrail, but it is still no place for folks with a fear of hights!

It makes my palms sweaty just looking at the pictures and hearing you talk about it...

I do like the picture with the reflections, though... thanks for sharing them ...and for being brave enough to take them.

I welcome comments on any picture I post... Thanks.

Looking at your photos makes my bones remember that Vertigo feeling I got whenever I had to get on top of our downtown building years ago. I would love to see you post a shot of Minute Maid park during a game if you ever get the chance!

Ohhhh Veeeeertigooooo:

This photo was taken by a friend (Steve Winters), not me.

chris, thought about that shot but could not bring myself to hang my camera that far out!

I have wanted to get the shot of a game in play but, the timming has yet to be there. Oneday!

Paul,

Not sure what you mean about tilt shift in post as I have spent most of my editing days doing video but I'll try anything!
