You should go on the altar itself and shoot straight up. Don't know if you got that shot, but I always like that angle when I shoot my weddings there.

And might I suggest a wide shot from the choir balcony at the back end of the church? If you have any kind of short lens, that would make for an awesome shot. I was christened in that church.

We are going back over there next month (I hope) to do another shoot. I walked around with my mouth hanging open at the beautiful interior of these churches. The only lens I had with me was a 24 mm...I'm bringing my 80-200 to do some detail work next time. This trip was just a scouting ride to see them for the first time... the next one I'll have a better idea of what I want to capture and there is a lot too.

If you were in there, then you had a chance to admire the stained glass windows, etc...
You mentioned you were in the process of scouting...might I also suggest that there are more painted churches between the Schulenburg/LaGrange area. You can contact either the LaGrange Chamber of Commerce or the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce to find out where these churches are and who to contact about letting you shoot them. I do know they've been photographed many, many times.

Yes sir we went to three on this trip...this one... the church in Praha and the church in High Hill and Shiner were my favorites , but they were all fabulous inside! I posted them here's what I got in Shiner...it's been a while.
