Wow, very nice. Love the B&W. Are these HDR?

I really like the composition in the first one, with the eleveated perspective and your eye following along the canal into the distance. You did a good job of lining up the frame edges as well. The second shot is also nice, lots of diagonal lines and repeating shapes/patterns for the eye to follow (perspective not quite squared up though). The last composition suffers in comparison to the first two, I just don't feel there's a strong point of view or path through the image like like in the others.

In all three, the sky looks a bit overprocessed for my taste. The first two have a little too much grain/noise and local contrast, though by no means does it ruin the shots. The last one just looks off; partly the halo where the buildings meet the sky, but ther's also a "smudged" lok the the clouds.

Makes me wanna go there. Hey, I was born in Italy as an Army brat; does that mean I get to go there for free some day? : )

Thank you, Audrey (they are not HDR), Leon, Jeff and James.

Jeff, thank you for taking the time to give me a great critique. I agree on all points. As far as the processing of the sky is concerned, I might have gone too far going after reproducing a character of a lithograph, my favorite print medium when I was in college.
