Didn't mean to HDR!!! : ( - 08-03-2011, 07:08 AM

Critique: NC:

On my lil photo outing last weekend I came out of the Yongsan Train Station/iPark Mall (5 story mall with two floors devoted to camera gear next to a train station). Pic one is coming out of the third floor to a unique view (photo op). Went down the stairs/escalator to a large mezanine (however you spell it). Anyway, more unique photo ops of the Yongsan skyline. It a very overcast day as we had a spell of Monsoon weather come through the day before. Through the view finder things looked fine until I got back to Camp Stanley. Everything in the foreground was fine and as it faded back it took a twist into the cartoonish. It started to look HDRish, to compensate I add one very small level of saturation, contrast and sharpening in CS2. It wound up pretty neat. Didn't mean to but, wound up with a normal forground and HDR looking background without using HDR.LOL Love how photography gives ya cool stuff when ya didn't even ask for it. : )
PS: Was using a D5100 and 18-55 kit lens mainly in manual or A mode. Gotta hand it to Nikon, best kit lens I have ever seen. Just a rookie having fun.

They know how to do things. Most of the brick and mortar camera stores around here are gone.

I like the composition in the first shot. The structure in the top left balanced with the flags in the lower right, and the clump of trees in the middle.

What level of camera gear did they have there? I'd love to visit the Korean B & H, if it's just a quick train ride away!

ipark mall can be dangerous (in a good way) with all those camera vendors. going there this weekend.

I was there as well. I bought a new tripod and bag. I wanted to buy a new lens but they weren't in the mood for haggling.
