Austin Skyline from Auditorium Shores - 02-08-2012, 02:06 AM

Critique: CC:

Finally got out of the house and met up with some friends. This was shot with a Canon 7D and 24mm tilt shift lens. 4 images were merged to create the panorama.

Very nice, what exposures did you use if you don't mind me asking.

This was taken ISO 100, f/8 and a 30 second exposure. There are 4 images merged for a panoramic. I had to pull the exposure from another image for the top of the Frost building.

Thanks, Rick, Leon and Jake

That's very nice. I've tried and tried to get a shot of downtown at night, and never fails that I fail.

Maybe we need to have a meetup for shooting the skyline that way everyone can share their tips.

For me, Frost Tower is either too dim, or blown out.

It's a beautiful shot and I really like it. The only nit-pic I have is I wish the moon and the building on the left weren't cut off in the reflection.

Ed, a meet-up would be great!! The frost tower was a blended exposure as it was the only thing not recoverable with the RAW file. I enjoy getting out at night downtown but not alone with an expensive set of gear.

Jim, I wish I could have gotten the whole 360 Condos Building in there too. That thing is just too tall. Next time...

A well-crafted and beautiful image. Frameable, for certain.

I'm heading down Saturday eve to try this once again. Looks like the weather is going to clear up, but it will still be chilly.

Will do. I might post this up in it's own thread to see if anyone else wants to go.
