Bonfire Memorial @ Night

This is a discussion on Bonfire Memorial @ Night within the City Life forums, part of the Showcase category; Decided to take the new 10-22 for a spin. The windy, cloudy conditions made for some interesting skies I think....

I like that first shot, very cool. I've never been out there at night...

Yeah, the first shot is great. I haven't been to College Station at night since I graduated, so I haven't been able to see it like that. Thanks for sharing with us.

Great pictures - I really like the effect of the second shot with the contrast between the sky and the ground. Is that a grain field?

Nope just grass, lit by a big orange light in the parking lot behind me. :)

Wow, at first it looked almost like grass, but I thought it might be a grain. But the level of illumination is wonderful.

Wow! Love these...I'd live with the CA (from your other post) after seeing these. Ying/Yang...everything has some downfalls...willing to live with 'em? I'd say heck ya...keep it or sell it to me...for $500

Yeah, the clouds around here at night have been really cool because they have been flowing really fast, and then the moon has been big. I love the first picture. I need to go out at night and try to get some pictures. My brother has been wanting to do it, so maybe we will be inspired to go now that you posted these.

Wow, fantastic shots. The first one is really nice, I've actually never seen the memorial I guess I have lived outside of Texas longer than I realized. LOVE the second one, the sky's color with the color of the field is amazing, the moon just makes the shot. Mind sharing with us what settings you shot these with? Much appreciated.

Thanks everyone for the compliments.

The first shot was @10mm for 30 seconds, f10. Tripod and timed release on all of them (forgot the cable release). This shot has a little cropped from the bottom of the frame.

The second shot was @12mm, f6.3 for 30 seconds. Again tripod and timed release.

I didn't realize you live in BCS...my hometown! I'll have to get up there to the memorial one evening when I go to visit my family. Great shots!!
