Downtown Dallas at night - 03-28-2005, 06:46 AM

I went out Sunay night to try and get some shots of downtown. This is the best one I came up with. Once I started shooting I got alot of company so I didnt stay long. Does anybody know of a good place to shoot downtown from at night? Or would anybody be interested in getting together to do some shooting at night? I figure there might be safety in numbers.

The neon green lights around the building make an interesting look. When you say, you got a lot of company, were people just watching you take pictures or talking to you causing a distraction?

I have family in Dallas and Depending on what part of Downtown he was on, there were probably some people that wanted to "borrow" his equipment. It's a shame we can't capture the beauty of our cities at night without packing extra "gear"

Yes thats exactly it. They wanted to borrow my equipment. When I got set up several people came up to ask me for money. I dont have a problem with people trying to panhandle but it made me feel uncomfortable with my camera stuff sitting there.

Nice downtown shot, I love that building....

The last time I went to Dallas at night to shoot, I had my eye in the viewfinder and was really working on getting the composition just right. Wanted to make sure the settings were spot on.......

Then out of no were someone tapped me on the shoulder, well I almost knocked over the camera as it scared the living hell out of me. I don't know were the guy came from and all he wanted was a little change, so there was no harm done.

On that trip, I decided that the next time I go to Dallas at night it will not be alone.

yeah dallas is a little shady at night. when my brother and i went to do some skline pics, we had to drive through "da hood" and it was pretty scary, well for me atleast. We ended up shooting from an apartment window and got some really great pics too. the apartment building was called Dickenson Place.
