When I lived in New York City - 04-11-2005, 09:47 PM

Here are some shots of NYC when I used to live there.
left Austin Texas to move there for some strange reason.
But thats where I met my wife so I guess it was worth it.

Ever seen a shot of Time Squar with no people?

Another infrared shot.

What would you like to know?
I have walked up and down Manhattan a lot. Sometimes at night taking photos.
I was armed all the time but its pretty safe in most areas.

Go to the Time Square area. From here you can get to St. Pats Cathedral
and Rockefeller center. They are about 5 blocks away. From there Grand Central and
the Chrysler building are 5 blocks away. The Empire stated building is about 8 blocks away south.
Learn the subway system. Its cheaper than a crazy Taxi ride.
And watch out for them. I saw two people get hit on my way to work one day.
They are idiots and smell bad.
Also check out Coney Island.
Go to the Brooklyn Bridge and walk across it. Do this at sunset for some great skyline shots. The New Jersey side has some great vantage points as well of the city.
Go to Hoboken, NJ for some of these vantage points.

Let me know if you want to know anything specific.

I love the 2 subway shots! Very cool and artsy! The others are good, too, but those are my favorites.

Nice shots. I'm actually moving from Austin to NYC next thursday. Camera is definitely coming (in my carry-on bag).

When I was in the Navy, I lived across the river in Bayonne. I traveled to The City quite often. Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera back then. We visited for a week one month before it happened and I can't wait to go back. Great, great city.

For a great skyline shot, go to Weehawken, NJ. It has some great vantage points along Boulevard East. I grew up in that area (not as nice now as it was back then.)

Here's a panorama I shot back in early 2001 during a business trip up there.
