Teo Chew Temple - 04-06-2007, 03:18 PM

Despite it's location in one of the busiest area in Houston, the Teo Chew Temple is surprisingly peaceful. Although I'm not buddhist, I've always found this place calming. Anytime I'm in that area, I try to make it a point to stop and visit.

Turtle pond :)

The Elusive Wall. Well, that's what I call it. As many times I've visited this temple, and as many times I've photographed this wall, I have never been able to get anything more than a snapshot of it. I've tried different angles and processing. Maybe that's what draws me back to this temple time and time again...

Up close.

Some may have seen the B&W version in another thread.

Lions. I believe the monk teaches the young lion dancers every Sunday.

I hope you enjoyed :)

Yes, I did enjoy these very much! Thanks for posting Jordan. The post processing is great. I especially like your treatment of the sky/clouds!

Thanks David & Marco :)

Not much for processing the sky on these. Just the temple itself. Just expose for the sky and shoot during harsh daylight :)

They remind me of postcards in that the color seems extreme. Looks like it was a wonderful experience.

Thanks for posting these. It looks like a great place to shoot and I'll definitely have to check it out. I especially like the 3rd and 4th shot.

Nice job Jordan! You say expose for the sky, the colors are so vivid, I was wondering if you are you using a polarizing or some other lens filter? When I expose for the sky, my colors never look this good.

Jordan,
Where in Houston is this temple? I lived in Houston for 22 years before transfering to DFW, 11 years ago. I would love to visit this temple when I am down in Houston visiting.
