Careful!

Have you checked the histogram? The blacks seem a bit grey.

It looks some better - it does still seem a bit 'murky', I guess. Mind if I give it a shot in PS?

It's definitely oversharpened but I didn't have a big image to work with.

Original layer sharpened with USM at 15/50/0 two or three times, then duplicated on Screen at 30% opacity and again on Soft Light at 50% opacity produces this:

Definitely adds some "pop" to the image. Thanks, Daniel-san! I'll work on the PSD with the steps you provided.
