C&C purty please.

From a google search, this could be an Frank Teich monument costing approx 40 grand in 1904 or a copy of one. There are four in Texas with one that hasn't been vandalized. I cut off the arm on purpose as some stinking vandels did to her a long time ago.

TIA

David

It is odd to see the damage to the arm like that. I have pictures of the angel in the Scottsville Cemetary between Scottsville and Marshall that has the same (or at least very similar) damage.

I've been looking at the pictures more. IS this the Youree monument in the Scottsville cemetary?

A friend and I spent a couple of hours touring the cemetary with the caretaker a few years ago. His knowledge of the people buried there and some of the stories of what put them there are incredible.

The Youree monument is an orginal and from the website, this could be either a copy or another orginal. It's not the first time the Glenwood (Hill) has been mistaken for the Scottsville (Youree).

Glenwood also has an angry angel with a legend, but that's another post.

Thanks Disney and Gleep

David

I feel stupid. I didn't notice the title that identified it as the Glenwood angel. I'd like to blame it on the fact that I was in the middle of a very hectic shift but I can't. I should have paid attention.

BTW.. I like the composition of your shots. Hiding the damage in the first showed the beauty of the angel. Showing the damage in the second brings the reality of our world into focus.

Nice shots - for some C&C, I'd suggest pushing the Levels a bit to move away from the "snapshot lighting" and clone out the back end of the pickup in the far right of the frame in the second shot.

Texasescapes.com actually had an article about these angels - http://www.texasescapes.com/Cemeteri...ing-Angels.htm

Here's a shot of the one in Denison.
