SL Town Square - 11-08-2007, 03:38 PM

I shot the Festival of Lights event in SL Town Square recently and got a marvelous view from the top of the parking garage (which we were actually allowed to photograph from)!!!

I feel good about the photo, but am uncertain on the post processing. Is it too strong in color or contrast?

It does look a bit red but if thats the mood you were after you've achieved it. City Hall is hard to photograph at night because the light illuminating the light colored masonry is so bright.

Here is a link to a shot I took several years ago during the Christmas lighting skipping
City Hall in this image, showing a different vantage point.

Rub it in why don't you? Now were you actually allowed by security, or were you flying under their radar?

Are they stopping people from rooftop shooting now? I've never had any issues with access and allowance.

haha .. byu has had more than his share of experiences ... he is a "pro" at SL rooftop photography !!!

on this night everyone was allowed to photograph ... the mayor was out in the town and was enjoying the festivities with everyone else ...

i went to the top of the garage and the only people there were a lovely indian couple that didn't feel inhibited about making out with each other while I photographed ... i should have snatched a photo of them for the tabloids while I was at it ...

Most of the time no one cares about photographers on the garage roofs. I have even taken shots from up there but technically, its private property owned by the SLTS management and they or their representative security company has the right to make you leave. The concern is loitering and liability issues.

The shot from the top of the Lone Star garage will soon be drastically different once the eight story office building is constructed in front of it.

Happy shooting,
