From Sabine Street Bridge. C&C welcome! - 02-07-2008, 10:27 PM

Ok, so I know there have been several posts so far with shots from this spot... Just interested in any C&C folks have for me. I finally took the plunge on some of these and went 100% manual (as opposed to Aperture priority on my Nikon D50). I also played around a bit with exposure/contrast/etc post processing. Let me know what you think! You can also see the full set on my flickr page (jyoburn).

i really like the first one. with the sunset reflecting off of the buildings. That created a unique look to the skyline

The second one looks like it was exposed a bit too long.. as everything is too light (thus making the blue look like it was added in as an effect in PS and not as art of the photo.

I like the third one as well. I notice that you have the sculpture in sharp focus and the buildings kind of blur in the background, but not too blurry.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks John. You're right - the 2nd one was exposed for just over a minute and a half - 91 seconds. I meant to set the camera for a 25 or 30 second shot, but since it was so dark I didn't notice I had slipped it into the mode to keep the shutter open. 91 seconds later I realized my mistake, and tripped it again. I hadn't noticed the PS-esque blue effect it created. Nice observation.

some perspective correction like this would help the 1st. And that's about all it would need.

the last one is nice... but i would try experimenting with different compositions and framings to put the scultpture in different parts of the picture

it looks nice the way it is, but it also feels like it gets in the way and is a little odd in positioning

kenw - wow! nice job! how did you do that - photoshop and just stretch it?

laawaaris - I agree... it's a cool sculpture, but also looks huge from that close up. Let me play with some cropping and some other shots and see what I can come up with.

Thanks for everyone's feedback!
