ok, i'll give my thoughts.

I want to like it but after looking several times I'm thinking the white blob overpowers the traffic. The sign base at the right leans and I would have just cropped it out and let the edge frame the image instead if a perspective correction wasn't possible or if it distracts too much.

I like the inclusion of the EXIT sign and the angles of the curved lane, to me that's the story the picture wants to tell. In fact, I think this area works great and might be best left unto itself. So i tried it just to see how a tighter crop might look mindful of thirds and such.

Not necessarily better, just different.

..and what does a guy in SA know about traffic anyway....? (just teasing, that's my hometown!)

Thanks for you very insightful comments. I see your points for sure.

Here is my reasoning for better or worse. All the paths through the image lead directly the haze covered sun. The signs, cars and roadway all point into the sun. My thought is that by taking away the sun I'm weakening the story of the image. The stuff on the right of the image sort of frames the cars but in truth I was too lazy to crop it out.

As far as traffic is concerned, I've lived in Houston, Dallas, LA/Orange county and Jersey. I know about traffic. The worst commute I've personally experienced is Orange County to Santa Monica in the morning. Second worst anywhere in Houston.

Yey for Houston traffic.

Yey for manual transmissions in Houston traffic, for sure.
