I wouldn't want anyone to feel uncomfortable. While this isn't a religious conference with photography mixed in, there might be some talk of faith. Probably the ideal attendee is someone who wants to say something with one's photos, wants to see how faith or one's moral attitude bears on one's work, and wants to see what others like-minded are doing professionally. (I don't mean to insinuate that other people are not saying something through their photography, but, you know, someone working on social issues.)
The conference provides professional inspiration and moral support for people like-minded. Some of the participants work with mission organizations or other NGOs. Others are people in the mainstream media, say with dailies, who want to say something with their work. (There are members from the Dallas and FW papers.) A few are freelance PJs. For examples of what members do, you can check out recent newsletters at
www.christiansinphotojournalism.org.
I'll be attending, at least all of Saturday. And, for the record, I have no financial interest. I don't even know that this conference does more than break even.
Thanks for moving this thread, Abel.
