Jackson Hole, Wyoming: Tour of the Tetons w/ TPF Photographers - September 23rd-26th - 06-29-2010, 02:34 PM

I'm hosting another "Dirt Cheap Photo Tour" to the Tetons to shoot the autumn colors the last weekend in September, 2010.

From Thursday night, September 23rd to Sunday night, September 26th, I'll lead no more than 11 other photographers to all of my favorite spots in Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park. The tour cost is $498 per person and that includes transportation to/from the park every day (I'm renting two full size luxury SUVs) and the park entrance fees.

Each tour participant would be responsible for their travel to/from Jackson Hole, Wyoming (airport code: JAC), their hotel charges (I have a hotel - The Ranch Inn - that is giving us 30% off their normal room rates) and their meals.

You may be aware that the last weekend in September is normally the peak color season in Jackson Hole. I was there the same weekend last year and the aspens were ablaze with red and yellow leaves throughout the park.

But you may not be aware of how fun a photo tour is and can be with the right people.....I didn't expect the friendship and fellowship to be the highlight of the tour, but it was for the ten shooters who accompanied me earlier this month. I've been shooting for a long time - and going to the Tetons with a bunch of fellow shooters who love landscape and wildlife shooting was a real highlight for me personally.

I've only got five spots left and would be happy to fill you in on more details if you'd like them. The concept of the tour is to keep the tour cost way below what other comparable tours cost, and I believe this is the most inexpensive Teton tour in Jackson Hole that month by at least several hundred dollars.

Abel Longoria and Wil Bloodworth (from TPF) both joined me for the first Teton tour and Wil has already signed up for this one. It would be great to have you join us.

There is a bit more information here:

Home Page

But the best way is to contact me directly on my cell (940-231-7223) and I can answer any questions you might have.

Thanks.

This "photo tour" is a ton of fun! Instead of reposting some of my images in this thread, you can see this in this one:

http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...ne-2010-a.html

Oh, and you can see more from the last trip on my Flickr stream.

Jeff is an excellent host and knows everything there is to know about this location. We had a great time and got some really excellent shots. Heck, just getting out of the 100-degree heat was a major plus!

FYI... I'm going on this September trip too!

Man, I wished I knew about this few weeks ago.

My travel budget is fairly maxed out already for upcoming vacations. I've always wanted to visit Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Jeff contacted me several months ago about listing his previous Photo Tour on the forum since he only had one opening left. I ended up snagging that last spot on the last tour he did so the listing never made it to the forum. Admin does have its priveledges! lol.

Anyways I must say I had an absolute BLAST the few days I spend in Jackson Hole with a great group of photographers.

I had never seen so many different types of wildlife over the course of 3 days. Let's see if I can list them here:

Elk, Moose, Great Horned Owl & Chicks, Great Grey Owl, Osprey, Bald Eagles, Coyote, Fox, Grizzly Bear, Black Bear, Buffalo, Prong Horn Deer, Beaver and oh yea GROUND SQUIRRELS!

I am SERIOUSLY considering going back on this September trip since by then most of the animals will have a full rack of antlers by then.

Here's a few photos from my trip:

Glad to have you and your wife join us, Michael. Looks like four airlines service JAC (Jackson Hole, WY) from Houston (IAH) - Continental, Delta, American and United. No direct flights, but all of these offer one stop flights:

Looks like you can get a fare for under $400 in September.

Like Jeff mentioned, No direct flights available from Houston.

Houston will have a layover in EITHER Salt Lake City, Denver or Dallas depending on which carrier you fly with.

Dallas DOES have direct flights to Jackson Hole so that's a good thing to note for those located up in the DFW area.

I was pleasantly suprised to see flights from both IAH (Houston) and DFW (Dallas Fort Worth) for under $400 roundtrip.

Here's another spot we'll be visiting in late September - the John Moulton Barn on Mormon Row....
