Understanding and controlling light quality is at the core of all of Tony's presentations. You will learn how to see a unique perspective and not be afraid to push the limits of your experience and talents. Tony is a master of lighting and seeing light.Tony will discuss all types of lighting and tools in depth. Lighting applications will include additive, subtractive, reflective and transmission. Tony will show attendees how spending a few extra moments at the time of capture can save you hours in post-production making corrections.
In this special event, Tony will lead attendees through an interesting look at how much control we can have over light and shadow. Using tools and techniques often overlooked, Tony's approach to lighting and its controls are often thought of as unorthodox. However, his understanding of the objective use a wide range of lighting tools allows him to think of photographing an airplane or a person with the exact same thought process, although they may require a different set of lighting tools.
After the shoot, Tony will take some images and edit them for us. Tony is Senior Manager of Product Education for Nik Software and he will show you how to make your images even better with a few simple clicks from this fantastic software.
In this workshop we will work on location with models as well as on location with Pro Foto lights and consider options other than 3:1 ratios, Rembrandt lighting, and the traditional four-light studio set-up. We'll work with one light, two lights, three lights and more. We'll work with large sources, small sources, direct and non-direct lighting.
Attendees of this workshop can expect to leave with a renewed understanding of the many options they have as an artist.
Tony has always been active as a student and a teacher of photographic education and his Basic Studio Lighting book from publisher AmPhoto has been popular worldwide and is the basis for numerous photographic college lighting courses. His new Location Lighting DVD produced by Software Cinema has received great reviews and is available on-line. He has written articles in every major photographic magazine in the U.S., Japan, the U.K. and China. He is currently one of a select few Approved Photographic Instructors from the Professional Photographers of America... and he's the biggest Beatles fan alive.
