Located 40 nautical miles from Ventura, California, Santa Rosa is the second largest island off the coast of California at approximately 53,000 acres in size. The island’s low profile is broken by a high, central mountain range, rising 1,589 feet at its highest point. Its coastal areas include broad sandy beaches gently sloping toward a dynamic ocean and sheer cliffs plunging toward the sea.

If you like adventuring and unique photo opportunities, Santa Rosa Island is the place to visit. There are countless hiking trails that lead to different remote parts of the island. There is unique Torrey Pines, awesome canyons, and pristine white sand beaches. Santa Rosa Island is unique and fun destination for a weekend get away. It seems unimaginable that such a pristine and magical island is only a short boat trip from Los Angeles.

Join us for a 3-day 2-night photo workshop where you will be taught landscape photography skills, photo composition, using color to your advantage, how to use and "see" light, and more. There should also be a chance to photograph the stars (star trails) on the darkest night. We may even encounter sea life on our way to Santa Rosa including Hump Back Whales and Bottle Nose Dolphins.

This photo workshop is for the outdoors backpacker and avid photographer who love to photograph nature in its truest form.
