Sacramento: Studio Lighting and Model Workshop - April 18th - 04-07-2009, 01:35 PM

I am conducting a workshop on Saturday April 18th from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM for the Meetup group that I organize . There is a nominal $50 fee per person and the workshop is limited to 9 participants. We will have 3 to 4 models for this workshop.

We will be shooting with primarily studio strobes with white, black, or brown backdrops. The purpose of the workshop is to teach basic studio lighting techniques and working with models.

We will be using models for one or more of the looks below:

• Fitness modeling
• Contemporary fashion
• Formal Fashion

There will be no nudity or implied nudity for this workshop. We will be shooting indoors in the North Highlands area of Sacramento. I will provide drinks and snacks for everyone. The shoot will last until around 5:00 PM.

The first hour to 90 minutes will be the group instruction portion on strobe lighting and working with the models. After that we will break in to smaller groups and rotate the models between the two shooting stations. Each person will have an opportunity to direct the model and use the other team members as their assistants while they shoot. This workshop will be an opportunity where you can learn more about these topics and experiment a little and also try a few things just to see what happens.

John,

Unfortunately due to a previous engagement, I will be unable to attend this workshop.
That being said, this is exactly the workshop that I have been looking for.
When you have your next one PLEASE post it here.
I would LOVE to take it.

Thank you,
Alan

I for one would love to be able to take the one you are offering above.

Honestly, I would also like to take one on glamour photography.
I'm also interested in location shooting, as in how to light with portable lighting.
I myself have a 580EX and a 420EX. I know the 580 will control the 420, but I just can't seem to get them to jive.

I'm probably making it more difficult than it has to be.

I will keep my eyes peeled looking for any of your workshops.
Feel free to drop me a PM and let me know what you have coming up too.

Thanks.

Update on Sacramento workshop - 04-13-2009, 01:51 AM

It is lees than a week until the Studio lighting and model workshop on Saturday April 18th. I have had a few verbal commitments but until you RSVP and send your payment your spot is not guaranteed. I have 4 models scheduled for the day and we will be doing 2 looks for each model. Here are a few examples I found on the web similar to what I expect we will be shooting on Saturday:

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

I have a few DIY projects that i will be using for the workshop, so it should be a lot of fun.

Very nice images John.

How many photographers did you end up having there?

I wish I could find something like this near me, all the good workshops seem to be out of the bay area. Guess I may just have to learn to enjoy long drives
