This is a 3 hour class once a week for four weeks on Wednesday. This is not a one-day class. You must register for all 4-weeks. Registration closes 2 days before the class date starts.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 for Photographers is hands-on with each student using a MacPro Dual-Core Intel with 23” Cinema Display equipped with an Intuos graphics tablet.

This class builds on the fundamental foundation of the Adobe Photoshop for photographers - I class. The aim of this class is to raise the participant's knowledge to a more professional level of digital workflow. This course will cover:

Pre Production • Color management: monitor calibration, color settings in Photoshop, and output profiles. • Digital Workflow - Card download • Using advanced options in the new Adobe Bridge file browser.

• Multi-image digital Camera Raw 5 file processing, Import images into your choice of formats, including Digital Negative (DNG); learn to adjust exposure, shadows, brightness, contrast; and digital bracketing for multiple exposures. Now also offers localized corrections, post-crop vignetting, TIFF and JPEG processing

Post Production • 16 bit file manipulation • Layer masks and layer adjustments • Smart Filters • Quick Selection and Refine Edge tools • Layer blends • Color correction for digital images • Dealing with digital noise • Opening up shadow detail • Beauty retouching • Slimming and trimming techniques • Advanced compositing • Precise selections using the Pen Tool• Channel masking • Overlay dogging and burning • Color correcting flesh tones • Advanced sharpening techniques preparing photos for press (CMYK color space)

Photographic special effects • Cross Processing C-41 in E-6 effect • Blurred lighting vignette.
• Hand coloring effects • Shallow depth of field effect • Warming and cooling photo filter • New
Black and White conversion as an adjustment layer • Sepia effects • Duotone • Selenium tone • Cyanotype look.

Content-Aware Scaling
Use the new and revolutionary Content-Aware Scaling feature to automatically recompose an image as you resize it, smartly preserving vital areas as the image adapts to the new dimensions.

Extended depth of field
Easily create a single image from a series of shots that have different focal points with the enhanced Auto-Blend Layers command, which smoothly blends color and shading and now extends your depth of field, automatically correcting vignettes and lens distortion.

Final Output • Use the new powerful printing options. Get outstanding prints with superior color management, tighter integration with leading printer models, and the ability to preview out-of-gamut image areas. Support for 16-bit printing on Mac OS offers increased color depth and clarity.
