Off Camera Lighting Workshop 1 - 04-21-2010, 12:17 AM

Announcing another workshop in the Sacramento area!!

This workshop is Part 1 in a series of on location photographic workshops
focusing on small, portable flash setups maximizing their unique capabilities
and ambient light. Part 1 will only use 1 flash and one reflector. Part 2 will
use 2 flashes, and Part 3 will utilize more complex setups.

This on-location shoot focuses on using small off camera flashes, inexpensive
modifiers, light-stands, and reflectors
to take you to the next level with your photographic technique. The heart of
this workshop focuses on "small lights, big results" as we show you
how to take inexpensive equipment and use it to its maximum. No experience with
off camera flash photography is required; however a working knowledge of
photography and your DSLR is a must. You will be shown from soup-to-nuts how
off-camera flash works. How you can get stunning shots with low-cost, highly
portable equipment with just a little bit of patience and technique.

YOU WILL LEARN

1. The basics of off-camera flash photography for location shoots.
2. The proper use of light modifiers, including softboxes, stofens, and
umbrellas, and WHEN to use them.
3. The basis of connecting your camera to your off camera flash, including
wired, and wireless solutions, and WHERE to get them affordably.
4. Understanding hard light, directed light, soft light, and point light, and
how to effectively use it with "on location" ambient light such as
sunlight or open shade.
5. Basic setups with a single light and reflector to maximize your portability while
creating stunning photos.
6. Tips and tricks on basic posing and location scouting to ensure your photos
are properly exposed and beautiful.
7. Learn the LIMITATIONS of the small flashes and how to work within them to
produce professional results.

PRICE

$60 per person. In order to maximize everyone's time, this workshop is
currently limited to 10 participants.

EVENT OUTLINE

First hour: Introductions and overview of off-camera flash basics.
Second hour: Introduction of models and first model setup at first location (2
stations)
15 min break
Third hour: second model setup at second location (2 stations)
Fourth hour: Question / Answer Session, tips and tricks session

* Hours 1 and 4 may be truncated to give everyone enough
time to interact and shoot with the models.

YOU WILL PROVIDE

1. Digital SLR with working hotshoe or PC-connection

WE WILL PROVIDE

1. Professional models (We anticipate having 1 model for every 3 photographers)
2. Off camera strobes, light stands, remote triggers, and light modifiers for
the shoots

I had said "I have to confirm with my Sister-In-Law on which day the Cal Berkeley Graduation is for my Niece. It's either Saturday or Sunday."

I heard from my Niece, and Graduation is on Sunday!
