EDITED/ UPDATED POST:

Dallas: Photoshop CS2 Class
April 15th from 8am - 5pm

After some discussion, I've decided to offer a 1-day intense Photoshop CS2 class in Dallas on April 15th from 8am - 5pm. The class will be held in an area hotel (exact arrangements are being made now). This class will be start at the Beginner level and build through Intermediate (as I described below in this thread).

I'm planning to do one full day class - so come ready to jump straight in! We'll start with the basics, and build over the course of eight hours. The beginners should find a ton of info to be new and helpful. The more experienced users will discover holes that they didn't realize were there, and then learn more and more as the day goes on and we delve deeper.

Everything will be done through the perspective of photography applications. That means it will be more focused toward photographers needs. The goal will be to develop a strong workflow, and the tools to do photo editing and manipulation from minor touch-ups and collages, to more extensive post-production. By more extensive, I mean understanding facial planes and how to reconstruct faces lost by exposure, print restoring, HDR, etc.

We will work on your images, not just pre-fab examples. There will be instruction/lecture and workshop time interspersed.

The class will meet in a Dallas hotel conference room (TBA), and run from 8-5, with an hour break for lunch. Lunch will be provided.

Cost: Only $250 per student
Requirements: Be slightly coherent - bring a laptop if you have one
Class Size: 30 People

To register click HERE and send back the form. All students must pre-register for the class. No walk-ins. (The hotel has to set up the room and the lunch ahead of time, so I need a firm head-count).

If you have any questions, PM me. And best of all - a portion of the fee gets kicked back to TPF.

As the event gets closer I'll post who's coming.

AND - there will be a door prize!

Thanks!

I'd spend half a day mastering curves if someone would like to teach me. I can do a lot with PS, but I'm a curve moron.

Cool. So it doesn't look like we'd have to spend time on how to open a file. Yaay! Let's see if we can get 5-6 people together...

I think some sort of syllabus would be helpful as you get it figured out. Just to get an idea of how many areas you wish to cover, and how much time will be spent on each.

Maybe you could pick x number of topics and submit them in a poll to tell what the masses are looking for. The results of the poll might help you structure the class, and weed out those too novice or too advanced for it to be a good use of their (and your) time.

Just a thought--I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Mike, Tom has a good thought. I held an informal RAW/post get-together a while back and we ended up a bit all over the road. We had folks of all levels and although it was helpful it certainly could have been better had I laid out a syllabus to inform everyone of the flow and to help keep things on track.

With post work it can go soooo many ways..... Good luck!

I am interested. I am half in and half out of intermediate. I need help with making clean selections using curves/level properly. I use them but, if I am using them to their full extent I doubt.

I'm interested as well, however, with two jobs, family, etc ... scheduling is always a challenge for me. I think I'm an intermediate user, that is until I attend a Photoshopuser seminar and realize I'm only a beginner. I've actually upgraded to the Beta CS3 ... any thoughts of discussing any of the new items ?

Thanks.
Randy
