Thanks for the replies. I intentionally took less weddings this season and I am trying to figure out what to do with those weekends. I had originally left them open b/c my parents are moving down here from the big apple and I figured they want help moving in. So far they havent sold their house yet. So here I am with weekends that are usually booked, with nothing to do!
So I was thinking about what types of resources people really need or want. I wasnt even thinking of a workshop when I posted this. It was asking in a more general sense, what do photog wish they had more help with. I figured everyone has something.
Anyway, Abilene is in the middle of no where, so we tend to have tiny turn outs. I have a bunch of people wanting to come into town (Abilene) on May 20th for a workshop. If anyone else feels like driving, let me know and I can send you the details when we have it worked out.
Beth, we actually have a wedding workshop in
Dallas on the 14th and a post processing class in
Dallas on the 15th. If anyone is feeling ambitious, you can go for both of those and work through a whole wedding from start to finish. That one will have a bride and a groom model.
The staging the wedding is an interesting idea. Maybe I can play with that at Dallas. Most brides hire based on bridals, not ceremony shots. So it would do you more good to figure out low lighting, fast walking, and the main shots you can't miss. To add in the cake shot, Id have to find a baker who wouldnt mind making a wedding cake for no reason. And that shot isnt too hard. The bouquet toss is something we can add.
Hmmm...I was thinking something along the lines of a creative workshop. Creative lighting, posing, adding some drama -that kind of thing. And then a little more creativity in post processing, layouts, albums, etc.
Keep posting your ideas. Maybe I can think of something that will benefit a bunch of you for those weekends I have open. And I thought I'd be moving furniture. This would be way better!
