Setting up a wireless home network - 10-02-2009, 08:44 AM

I've got my laptop (Vista 64) running on our wireless router that my desktop (VIsta 64) is hard wired to via ethernet cable. I want to set up a network between the two to share files back and forth, but everything I read on the MIcrosoft help page seems confusing. It just seems to tell me how to get on the network (Using a USB drive to copy data, etc), but I can't figure out how to "see" other computers and share files. I'm already connected to the router fine, and the laptop is accessing the internet mo sweat.

I feel really dumb, because I remember doing this no problem on XP several years ago. Does anyone happen to know where I can look for this info?

Tom you will need to enable the sharing feature.

click on your start orb > type "Network and Sharing Center"

In the Network and Sharing Center under the section Sharing and Discovery ensure that File sharing is set to "on"

Hope that helps
