disabled firewall, wiped the disk clean an restarted from factory settings and then disabled firewall again, played around with the xp compatibility feature (that folks swear is only available on the professional version). My next move is to go back to best buy and threaten to return the computer & see if they'll have the geek squad guys take a look at it. Next move after that would be to sneak the CS3 disk in best buy's demos and see if it'll even start to load

If it does then i'll pick that laptop up
CS4 demo downloads and runs perfectly from adobe's site. Its just the doggone CS3. Never had this issue with my laptop with the installs of cs3.
