Tethering ... - 01-21-2010, 01:08 PM

So I rarely get asked to Tether the camera to my MacBook ... but I have done it twice.

Now I don't know a whole lot of other options (because I haven't researched it yet)

But Lately I have been using Apple's Aperture 2 program to tether to the laptop ... it's quite slow but it does the job.

My questions is ... what do you guys think about this:

And second, if you are familiar ... could you happen to give some suggestions or insight to help out.

Thanks for any info.

I use LR2. And that's exactly why I stopped using Aperture- It was too slow, even on my Macbook Pro. It would lag for most actions, and the Loupe was always like on a time-lapse.

I'm not sure about that program listed. There are others here that are more experienced with tethered shooting, especially with Nikon.

I can only speak about using the bundled Canon software to tether to my Mac. It actually works really well, and I can control all the settings on my tethered camera from my laptop.

I tether my MBP with the Canon stuff too -- but I'd like a quick n' dirty howto on doing it in LR2. Anyone kind enough to spew forth the details?

I heard the LR2 is great ... and faster than Aperture 2. I have only done photo enhancements in LR2 ... not tethered. I will probably take my camera up to an Apple Store and check it out.

I bet the Tether feature is just like the Aperture spot. File>Tether ...

As for the Loupe being slow ... I have always hated it in Aperture 2. I use Aperture 2 because it was the one I enjoyed and help teach the basic when I use to work at Apple.
