Computer Monitor Contrast Ration - 01-23-2010, 09:17 PM

Question on monitors and contrast ratio
LG monitor 30,000 to 1 contrast ratio
Dell 1,000 to 1 contrast ratio

What exactly does this mean and how will it effect images when using photo programs.

Looking for a good 23 inch monitor

Hello,

I had a huge reply typed here, but I think Wikipedia can say it better.

Contrast ratio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:
The contrast ratio is a measure of a display system, defined as the ratio of the luminance of the brightest color (white) to that of the darkest color (black) that the system is capable of producing.
