Has anyone purchased Photoshop from ebay? They claim that its the full version of photoshop cs4 extended for around $400.00. The price its kind of hard to beat but not sure if I should trust them.

There are "OEM" version of the CS4 studios which are significantly cheaper than retail, approx 50%. If you have a link to it, folks could chime in with their opinion of the listing.

Just doing a quick ebay search for photoshop cs4, there are a lot of sellers which do not have a lot of feedback. If one of these are the ones you're considering, I recommend not buying from them. I'd suggest finding one with a lot of feedback and has sold the item in the past. Yes, it'll require more research to be done, but it's more peace of mind than anything else.

If you still have doubt about buying it from ebay, buy it from a reputable dealer at MSRP or take advantage of a possible upgrade if you have the appropriate software.

FYI, here is the upgrade eligibility chart for Photoshop CS4.

Adobe Photoshop CS4: Upgrade details

I know when I purchase PS CS4, they had an upgrade option for Elements 4 to PS CS4 for 199. But that was a year ago, I thought Elements were still in that upgrade price.

DON'T BY IT ON E-BAY!!! Just look up my thread from a few months ago called "CS3 ripoff".

Yeah, it was a good deal cheaper (hundreds) but when I went to register it the serial number was invalid, and it took a month to get it worked out with the seller and get my money returned.

I eventually bought it from Amazon to make sure I had recourse should anything go wrong.

You will still have to buy a key from adobe even if the original is included. Remember CS4 has to be activated..

Been there done that....and got screwed..............

Best option is to buy new..

Doing another search for top rated sellers and photoshop cs4 extended, the upgrade to PS CS4 extended are going around 400 and the full version around 1k.

photoshop cs4 extended, Computers Networking, photoshop cs4. Great deals on eBay!

Buying new is 999 from adobe.

Both Photoshop and Lightroom (full versions) are eligible for the education pricing all the time straight from Adobe.

Adobe - Education: Eligibility for education purchasing

In some cases the cost of community college tuition PLUS the software may be cheaper than the cost of the software retail pricing alone.

I am currently going through the same ordeal but with LR. The Ebayer has thousands of sales and only one negative in 12 months. However, I have a serial number that will not register. Play it safe and wait for an Amazon deal.

The last time that I read the licensing on the Education Priced packages (they were clearly marked as such on the packaging and included license agreement) it stated in no uncertain terms that use of the educational product for commercial purposes was strictly prohibited.

If you are going to use Adobe CS4 for commercial purposes, then education licensing will not cover you.

I did a quick search -- turns out I was wrong...

Student version cannot be used for commercial purposes, but education version can.

I apologize for the misinformation

I suggest you go through the Adobe store or your local book store if you are a student. you can get the student version for about 200..

but if you do buy from ebay i would ask to make sure it is a um opened copy or version and that they accept returns incase its crap. also you should goggle Journeys a online store that sells at great prices.
