Re install PS and make sure your file extensions are "all" to be opened by PS.During the install a box will appear to tell PS what extensions to open.Set them all to ps.Did you know you can open an image in PS by double clicking on the empty workspace instead of going to file, open.Hope this helps.

Something got corrupted, or your adobe registry entries might be probably hosed. If you have system restore setup, try to restore back to the day when you could open it.

this only happened when I went from cs2 to cs3... had no problems with cs2
