Try this.

1 - Unplug/Turn off everything (leave *ALL* network cables attached).
2 - Turn on the modem.
3 - Wait until all the lights come on indicating it's in a ready state, then plug the router back in.
4 - Wait about 60-seconds, then power up one computer.
5 - Let us know what happened.

1. Open a command prompt on both a working computer, and the non-working computer. (Start -> (All) Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt)
2. On both, type ipconfig /all and hit enter.
3. Compare what you get back, namely the following:
IP Address: should be similar, only the last number of the four should be different. (ie. 192.168.1.100 vs 192.168.1.101)
Netmask: should be the same (ie. 255.255.255.0)
Default gateway: should be the same on both, and 3/4 numbers should be the same as your IP address (ie. 192.168.1.1)
DNS: should be the same on both, and not be 0.0.0.0 or blank

If wireless works then the router is working. make sure cables are plugged in correctly to the lan ports of the router. If so check for port lights on router and make sure you have a green light on the back of the computer when you have the network cables plugged in.

installed a new router...everything is working.

I reset the old one..no luck. Seems there may be more than my issue. I looked on line and seems there are alot of people all of a sudden with this exact same model number all of a sudden having issues with theirs not working too.

Lord have mercy...I have done that so many times in the last month..I think I have nightmares about it!!!! I did have the internet provider out yesterday and found out there was an issue with the line from the house to the ??? post!!! They ran a new line and will have someone come out to bury the line later. At least the internet is not dropping 50 times/day!!

chuckle, the next step is to buy a shovel...when the fence people cut my cable line after the hurricane, comcast put in the new one but it's still drapped over the fences (6 condos worth)...

actually thought about burying it ourselves but, it's working don't want to break it...helps our friends find our place easier, great for hanging plants...forget the shovel, buy some hanging plants...

: ) I'll look forward to giving my kids another chore. The nasty attitudes, I mean the world revolves around me attitudes, started yesterday on their first day of summer. The results of those beautiful attitudes started today with a "list"... : ) amazing..how the boy's attitudes got much better..the girl...much worse!!! MMM...why were convents invented????

So tonight, finally got someone from the internet company that troubleshot for me. Seems it wasn't the router in one sense. Apparently the router was confused!! One desktop is xp the other 7. Apparently the router gets confused and quits. So he had me uncheck something to make my (the 7 ) computer work. Works great in fact... Still can't get the xp desktop to work though. He trouble shot alot of things and couldn't see to figure anything out. Said the information is getting to the computer, but the computer won't upload the information. And so the saga continues!!!!!!!!! I hope someone is getting some good laughs out of this saga!!!! : )
