external cord options..

I am trying to connect my external hard drive to a new desktop. Here are my options..

External drive has two fire wire slots, a eSATA, and one very small wierd plug..almost looks like a w one side. That small wierd one is the one I am having issues with..the plug in itself is loose and the cords wiggle in it.

Computer desktop has lots of usb slots, eSATA (that is misaligned and waiting on a new motherboard : ( , and a fire wire.

Now, besides using a SATA cord..and not using that little slot with the w..are there any configurations I haven't thought of??

Cuz you can't do fire wire to firewire correct?? ?????

mmmmm...should have looked through all those cords before...it's a happy day in the neighborhood!! firewire to firewire is working!!!! : )
