I installed Windows Virtual machine on my Windows 7 Ultimate computer, and XP mode. Life seemed to be ok, however the game I wanted to play did not play, so I uninstalled both. Then the trouble began.
The machine would slow boot, and then hang. Nothing would load for 15-30 minutes, then things would load, but the system did not work well. Did a system restore. No joy. Discovered that Zone Alarm, did terrible things to the system with it's True Vector software, and that was causing the problem.
Then I discovered that the Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter was not working, could not get it to work, and there was nowhere on the net to make it work. Apparently it handles IpV6 issues, but no one knows how to fix it or update it. Since Time Warner was down, I had no internet, I called Ken and he did Google-fu for me. As it went on, it seemed best to re-install Zone Alarm, which worked, system seems stable, working as it should. Managed to System Restore to before the Virtual Machine issue.
Looking on the Internet after Time-Warner came back up it seems the general feeling is disable the Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter, and live well. Ken and I suspect that it was something installed with the Virtual Machine, but no one knows what it does.
Things seem to be ok, I have no IPv6 connectivity, but it does not seem to affect anything. Anyone here ever heard of the Microsoft Teredos Tunneling Adapter?
