RAID technology is a very well worked out and robust one. I personally didn't pick the Drobo because of price and because I wanted more control over how the setup happened (performance, safety, speed, ...) but if you want something that just works and is redundant - the Drobo is a good choice.

In this case redundant is a good thing.
