Which monitor? - 08-15-2010, 01:16 PM

My Dell computer screen that came with my computer seems to be on its last legs. At this point it just randomly turns off and I must press the power switch a few times to get it back on, or sometimes just smack the top of it. In any case this was a “free” screen that came with my computer and now I am looking for recommendations of a good but affordable screen for viewing and editing photos. My budget is around $300-$400.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

My daughter just bought a Viewsonic VX2250WM -- an LED backlit 22" 1920x1080 flat screen. Comparing it to my AOC 2230fa, which I bought about a year ago, all I can say is "wow!" Well, I can say more than that, but for the price of that Viewsonic, I'm amazed at how good it is. It's on sale at MicroCenter right now for $199, I believe.

My daughter is a digital artist and uses her computer extensively for her artwork and animation, so color accuracy is very important to her. And as one who uses my AOC a lot for image processing, I find myself wishing I could borrow hers!

My wife recently got a Samsung BX2440 LED and after calibration the color accuracy is very close to my Eizo. It is in your price range.

If your really interested in getting a monitor with precise color accuracy then your budget would have to increase considerably.

I got the same monitor for Father's Day

Amazon.com: ViewSonic VP2365WB 23-Inch IPS LCD Monitor: Computer & Accessories

I really like it. I've calibrated it and it's beautiful. Lots of adjustments, and for under $300 a great monitor and a step up from the previous 20.1" I was using.
