Is anyone using Windows 7 x64 with PS and LR? I'm thnking of purchasing a new laptop with an i7 cpu, 8GB ram, and using windows 7 x64. However, I have never used a 64 bit operating system before.

no problems for me although some addons do not run in 64 bit. i would say at this stage if they dont get to 64 bit very soon they will not be a long term solution anyway.

My wife uses Win7 x64 with CS4. She complains about the overall system stability quirks (minor, typical Windows stuff) but it all runs as well as 32 bit.

David | Moving to Win 7 64-bit for both PS & LR is the best thing you can do because you can toss as much memory as your motherboard can hold.
My desktop PC is a Win 7 64-bit machine and I have zero problems.

CS4 runs great. You won't know how well until you try it right?

PS CS4 ran fine under Win7 Ultimate for me. Overall, Win7 is very stable (heck...Vista was stable too). As noted elsewhere, some plug-ins haven't been updated to 64bit (both for Mac and Windows).
As to the stability issue, I've only found a couple of programs that can tank Win7 - usually antivirus (mostly Norton) and burning programs (Roxio).

Useless resource hogs at that.
I'm running CS5 Design Premium, and LR3 on Win7 Ult 64bit. I've got more stuff open right now that it's worth listing but this i7 just laughs at me for even trying to make it sweat. No problems at all. I've not run into a single application I needed to run that didn't perform well on this system (and that includes the few linux apps I use, inside a Virtual Machine that doesn't even almost slow down the host machine. It's lovely).

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I was nervous about making the switch, but not now.
