Question Mac to PC - Viewing Issues... - 09-06-2010, 07:07 AM

I recently helped another photographer out, by editing a few photos from a very small wedding that she shot. I exported the images from LR in a .jpg format, and then burned them to a DVD for her. When she got them home, she is stating that they appear pixelated when she views them in photoshop. I edit on a Mac, she edits/views them on a PC.

My question is - what kind of issues, if any, could be causing the pixelation?

I exported the files at full resolution and 300dpi, evident by the 8-10 meg file sizes, and they were all .jpg files. And if I'm not mistaken, shouldn't .jpg files be readable throughout all system types?

She shoots a D300s, then puts the images on disc for me. I import them into LR, edit in LR and CS4, then export from LR to .jpg format. Could there be some issues if I'm editing in a certain 'bit', and she's viewing them in a different 'bit' (i.e. 8-bit, 16-bit etc.)?

Unfortunately, I dont have an example for you to look at yet. I'm stopping by her house this evening after work so that I can sit down at her computer and see what she is looking at.

Any ideas?

Did she open them into PS directly from the CD or copy them onto her harddrive with another program first?

I move between my MacBook Pro's version of PS and my PC desk top's PS all the time without issues.

Unless she imported them through some application that resized/compressed them again there's 0 reason there should be any difference at all.

Thats what I thought.... I'm figuring she has a setting wrong, or is possibly doing something wrong that is causing it. I'm going to see exactly what she's doing tonight when I stop by.
