Why is Apple always a bit later on the fastest clock speeds and such? I don't want to get into a PC/Mac war, just curious. Sounds like a mean machine. Also, is USB 3.0 being widely used already?

Mac is very efficient and can have a lower clock speed and still beat Win boxes that have a higher clock. It has to do with the streamlining of the OS. They keep the supported devices at a minimum and write code to accentuate the supported devices. This is why you cannot go to best buy and get a Video card etc.

Windows try's to make everyone happy and supports millions of peripherals and devices. Thus bloating the code.

USB 3 is very new, but it is FAST....4 Gb/s fast. Also on his board, since apps and OS will be on a SSD drive, his board supports 6gb/s transfer...this is twice the speed.

Here is a video of PS opened, big screen has a SSD, laptop has a SATA drive.

Hey John....I bench-marked in about 20 seconds on the Retouch artists Speed test....without a scratch disk!!!

Here is the video:

YouTube - Photoshop Speed Test on SSD Drive and Phenom 965

I will be adding the 4tb Raid assembly next as a scratch and re-bench.

Sounds like a great setup! Not sure what is USB 3.0 compatible these days.

Other than saying that it's "really fast," I haven't had much time to spend with it. Still need to customize PS and LR, import some photos, and do some editing. The SSD is lightning fast! It boots from cold to Windows in under 30 seconds, which is in under half the time of my old machine; and PS and LR load super quickly. Also, I like the case with all the ventilation/exhaust, ports, etc. I'll post more thoughts in a couple of days after I've had time to use it more.
